Changing Lives
Live for them. Give for them. Teach for them.
Too many of us focus so much on our personal goals, it becomes easy to forget the people around us. Everything you do affects others, either directly or indirectly ... positively or negatively.
When you're chasing your dreams, working harder than you've ever worked, remember there's someone watching - someone who's going to be influenced by you. When you feel "too tired" to continue, know that by pushing through, you're showing him how to keep fighting when he doesn't think he can. When you lose those 20 lbs., you're proving to the person next to you that it's possible to do something that once felt impossible.
Have personal goals and motivations, but always know she's watching - someone you know, but aren't even very close to. She's taking mental notes, creating a belief system based off of your actions. What you do and don't do affects lives! When you don't feel like getting out of bed, remember that by sleeping that extra hour, you're telling her that it's o.k. to give in to struggle; it's fine to only work as hard as you feel comfortable working. Instead of hitting the snooze button, jump out of bed for her - to improve her life.
You're living to grow and change ... not only yourself, but those around you. You're touching more people than you'll ever know, so do it with character, discipline, passion, and a willingness to strive further than most believe is possible. Show the world that anything is attainable the second you say it is.
Give, not to receive ... but rather to change lives!

You Gotta Do Better Than This ...
Teaching the 1% Mindset means there will naturally be people who want to challenge the concepts . I love being called-out and discussing why I believe so passionately in the 1% Lifestyle - it creates thinking and maybe even understanding. This throw-down, I had to share ...

The Beauty Of Struggle
When you look at a highly successful person, you think you're judging him by his success, when in actuality, all you're really seeing is his endurance of pain.
If you view your attainment of goals this way, you'll be amazed at how powerful and confident it feels. It becomes a total win / win situation, knowing that when you succeed or fail along the way ... you're really only succeeding.
There's no such thing as a straight line, and there's definitely no such thing as a row of unlocked doors. This is the beauty of struggle - figuring out ways to make the path straighter and doors open!

A Decision He Made
This isn't going to be a play-by-play post about Lebron James winning a championship, but rather, why he finally won!
I wasn't previously a fan of LeBron, partly because I'm a huge Kobe supporter, but mostly because of how he performed during his defining moments. In the past, he's been afraid to shine - fearful of risking it all. He talked about "wanting" to win a championship, but unlike Jordan or Kobe, could never put his ego on the line, and dominate with the game in the balance.
This year's playoff run was different. He had that "look" that said it was going to be his this time - no one was going to take the championship away from him. He simply made a committed decision! He chose to be fearless during those moments that would define his legacy. This year's championship trophy is now his because of the pain of losing it last year. THIS is how he was able to finally choose 1% Greatness over mediocrity. James used the pain of 2011's loss to Dallas to fuel his fire.
As every 1% Success Story illustrates ... pain is needed, inevitable, and mandatory! Fail for 364 days in a row, if needed, knowing on day 365, you'll explode to another level! Use every struggle and tear of frustration to launch you to places you didn't know existed - because they do exist, and are waiting for you!

Reality Distortion
It was a joke around the Steve Jobs camp - he'd distort reality to fit his own idea of what it should look like. Don't allow anyone to dictate your definition of reality ...

Stop Talking About It
The key word here is DECIDE! Don't hope or wish that you want it, and will do anything for it ... make a committed decision that you will have it!
Fear is the biggest enemy of success, and will do whatever it takes to keep you from moving forward. You must consciously choose courage every minute of the day. Fear is a choice, quickly turned into habit - break the chain, risk it all, knowing this is the only way to crush this illusion.
99% talk about it. 1% do it. Who are you?

Words Don't Mean A Thing
This is a total life-changer! Everyone you come in contact with will be affected.

Get It Done
Let's just be real - let's take off the gloves ...
If you're sick and tired of where you are, change it! No more whining, no more excuses ... do something about it. You deserve it, your family deserves it, and the people watching you achieve it (who you may not know are watching) deserve to be shown it can be done!
Go to bed earlier, wake up earlier, dedicate your mind and body to attaining it. You don't know how long it'll take or how many hours you'll have to grind ... you simply know it WILL be yours.
Decide. Visualize. Work. Win.

Be Relentless
This weekend, I challenge you to do more than you normally would ... more than THEY will do. You separate by pushing limits beyond normal comfort zones. Knowing most will rest this weekend, happy the week is over, if you go harder and risk more ... instant separation will be achieved!
-OR-
Kick your feet up, watch the game, drink in hand, take a nap.
The second definitely sounds relaxing, but 1% Success isn't ever achieved with feet up on the couch. Be relentless ... never settle for less!

When You Win, Sometimes You Lose
This is so counterintuitive, isn't it? We want to win ... and win now! If we succeed all the time, that obviously means we're doing it correctly, right? WRONG! All that means is we're too afraid to risk more - too scared to cut away our safety nets.
We're not defined by our success, but rather how much pain and struggle we're willing to endure, and still get up fighting.
Fail today ... fail often! Will it be a moment of frustration or an opportunity to define your future?

How much are you sacrificing? Daily, I hear how committed people are to "taking their game to the next level," but rarely, are they willing to sacrifice their comfort zones.
I recently switched my sleep schedule, which I thought I'd never do, because I loved going to bed super late. I thought I was the most creative after midnight, so I'd stay up till 1:30, wake up at 630. I'd do a little in the morning before my daughter woke up, then start my day. I believed I was separating from the pack because I was going to bed late, and only sleeping for 5 hours. Something was missing, though. After listening to Eric Thomas talk repeatedly about how he wakes up every morning at 3:00, and how this took his business to another level, I decided I'd experiment with waking up earlier. I've read the same info Eric has about how the most successful people in the world wake up at ungodly hours, in order to separate - but I was never willing to sacrifice like that, prior. That was then! My comfort zone was about to be shattered!
I started by going to bed at 12:30, waking up at 5:45. I was shocked at how easy it was, and how fast the time flew in the morning, while I worked until my daughter woke up. It actually wasn't enough time, though, so I decided to bump my wake up time to 5:15, but that also wasn't enough time. I'm now going to bed before 11, waking up at 4:30! I'm seeing instant results - things are changing around me. I'm becoming so addicted to the work I can achieve this early, I'm considering adjusting my sleep schedule again.
Because I was willing to step out of my comfort zone for the long term betterment of my business, I'm seeing huge things happen - right away! Rest is mandatory ... sleep is a luxury. I don't have that luxury!
When I hear people talk about how they need 8.5 - 9 hours of sleep to function, I laugh now. I know this is simply an excuse for not wanting to step out of comfort zones and do more than they're used to doing. 99% of people will say they "want it badly," but only 1% will ever do anything about it!
What will YOU do to separate from the pack? Stop talkin, start doin!

Hold On Tight ...
The 1% Mindset isn't for the special people, whoever they are. It can be yours right now. As a matter of fact, it's yours already - you already own it. Becoming 1% is a choice; a decision that's made between your present situation and your future success. All you have to do is open your eyes to the probability that you have more in you ... more than you ever knew existed. You don't need to know how it'll all manifest, you just need to decide that it WILL manifest!
You don't owe anyone an explanation for why you want more ... just make the choice that you no longer deserve your current situation. The minute you make this decision, you'll instantly begin looking for ways to create a new environment. It's almost instinctive - the subconscious will give back to you, in the form of concrete results, whatever you feed it daily.
Choose the 1% Life and hold on tight ... the ride will take you places you never thought possible!

Fail 364 Days Of The Year
This way of explaining the two different mindsets took me to a whole new level. After listening to the story, I had to just sit and let it sink in. It was brilliant.

Stop Talking About It ...
When will you stop talking about how bad you want it, and begin putting yourself in the middle of it?
Your goals will never be reached until your words turn into real life emotions - feelings that represent your successful future.
Every night before you fall asleep, live in your success. Breathe it, taste it, and feel the reward of enduring massive amounts of pain.
Every morning when you wake up, imagine yourself living the life you've felt in your mind.
No more excuses. No more what-ifs. Make it happen. Show the 99% what it looks like to be passionate, dedicated, and willing to sacrifice whatever it takes!

I Challenge You ...
It takes a special mindset to risk total failure and disappointment ... but it's these people who will always taste the sweetest success!
I challenge you to be that special!

Crazy Is The New Rich
When Michael Jordan was cut from his high school team, they said he was crazy. When Steve Jobs said he wanted to change the world, they said he was crazy. I hope they're saying YOU'RE crazy ... it means you're close. I hope they're hating on you, saying you're out of your mind for trying ... it means you're almost there.

No Question, No Doubt, Guaranteed

Realistic Means Failure!
I went to sleep at 12a, woke up at 5a ... to work ... to separate ... to create greatness!
I woke up to 37 messages, excited about sacrificing for 1% Success. Some waking up earlier, others practicing longer, many cutting negative people out of their circle.
I had 3 messages, telling me to be realistic, wanting me to stop telling my students to lose the backup plan. "What if they fail? They're going to need something to fall back on!"
Realistic mean fear. Realistic means can't. Realistic means failure. Realistic means mediocrity!

How Bad Do You Want It, Part II
Here's the sequel to "Want it as bad as you want to breathe!"
As in real life, the work never stops, the sacrifices never end, and the pain only gets more intense!

Work To Death!
After talking with a soon-to-be London bound Olympic 200m and 400m sprinter, I was left with chills running down my spine. He said this ....
