Will They Ever Fit?

It's all a big puzzle, isn't it? Lots of pieces scattered about the dining room table, waiting for the perfect fit. Very often, we find that fit, but it feels like those pieces spend most of their time teasing us. We think this is it - this is going to be the one that clicks into place, beginning a cycle of perfect fits. It looks like the corner piece, feels like the corner piece, but is very often the one piece of the puzzle that fits somewhere else.

When we do find the fit, it sure makes the short term struggles all worth the wait. How long do we have to wait, and why does it seem like it never comes... until it finally comes?

Personally, I feel like I'm constantly battling in a tug-o-war between that exact fit and the one that seems like it'll never fit. I've thrown that damn puzzle across the room more times than I can count, but for some reason, always pick up the pieces and start again. I've recently come to the conclusion that the puzzle may never be totally finished, and probably isn't supposed to be. I may continue chucking it across the room, but hopefully I'll keep finding the courage to spread it over the dining room table again... and again if necessary!

  1. maybe you werent supposed to solve the puzzle alone.

have you ever loked at something.. and looked at it and looked at it again and it just doesnt add up. you cant see where things went wrong.. but some one else looks at it, and within a minute they can tell you where you went wrong, why you went wrong and everything all about your wrongness?

maybe you have a certain situation.. and this situation pops up again and again.. and it always turns out the same way. and you hate the way it turns out everytime. in fact its the opposite of what you want. but no matter how many times you look at it, you just cant see why it went the way it did. maybe people even tell you exactly why it happened, but you still can't see it.

until the right person tells you or until you are truely willing to accept things the way they are.

the peices will fit. they always do, the worst that can happen is there is a peice missing- which in some cases will be even worse than not being able to figure it out- but assuming you have all the pieces, eventually it has to fall together. it may just take another person showing you the way and the timing to be right. maybe you aren't ready to see the picture the puzzle shows.

  2. I definitely believe that others can help us realize the true secrets of the missing pieces. Looking from the outside-in, unemotionally, is an advantage that we don't have when we're involved in "it." Can we always trust the "other person" helping?

But are we always supposed to figure out that puzzle? Are we supposed to put all the pieces together, or simply enjoy trying?

What's more important, and where should our focus be aimed? Throwing the puzzle across the room... or picking up the pieces?

  3. putting the pieces together should be our aim.. not picking them up or the fact that we've thrown them.. picking them up implies dwelling on the fact that you've thrown them..

maybe then, there are multiple puzzles.. not one big life puzzle. because life is a bunch of emotions& actions& happenings is it not? maybe it's about putting a puzzle together and then enjoying the triumph of figuring it out.. and then the initial determination and continued dedication to a certain motivation until that motivation is complete.

some puzzles are easier, while some may take our whole life. its the ones that take your whole life that are the ones most worth solving.

  4. How can I possibly add to your response??

There are WITHOUT QUESTION many puzzles w/in the "big puzzle..."

IMO, it's those smaller puzzles that eventually determine how/what the bigger one looks like!
